Default Question: Using stock photos is work you want to sell

OK, I am not sure if this is the right place for this, BUT... I wan't to purchase stock photos that I am allowed to use in reproduced work that I want to sell. I do graphic design, and want to use stock photos and maybe add quotes and thing and resell. Kind of like taking a stock photo of a mountain and putting some bible verse on it, then selling them as prints. Does anyone know where I can find stock photos or a place that allows you to use the photos in products you plan to sell. Sorry if this is stupid, I am just really confused by the whole thing. I thought that if you purchase a stock photo, it is yours to use freely... But I am finding otherwise

Brandon, Check with the company that you are licensing (because THATs what youre really doing, not PURCHASING) the image from for what license you would have to purchase depending on your use.

Different uses require different licenses to be purchased when licensing the image. If you want to resell an item with a licensed stock image on it (Say on a mug or on a calendar) you have to purchase the license that corresponds with your use.

So the answer is, check with the stock agency youre going to be getting the image from on what license you need for your application

Stock sites like dreamstime, bigstockphoto, and fotolia have extended licenses that will allow this. Read the licenses carefully for each site because it differs what is allowed on each license.

I think they all offer extended licenses.

Shutterstock sure does.
