A few pictures from the Blaze v Capitals game. Sorry Alan; you won't like the result
These were taken for the most part hand holding my mates 300 f2.8 on my 20D. Good lord does it get heavy! It was therefore a tad long at ice level but an interesting experimentation. Minus zoom by stepping back from the glass was in operation. ![]() Rhys McWilliams ![]() Trevor in net. A bit tight this one! ![]() Dan Carlson takes control of the puck ![]() Lou Dickenson of the Capitals Going from the 70-200 to a 300 prime was interesting especially on a crop sensor, but boy was it bright! shot #3 is really good, all the elements - puck, motion, opposing player, face -- good hockey. that 300 really looks nice. How tight are these cropped?

Nos 2 and 3 basically had the top of the photo chopped off, nothing from the width.
Shot 3 was on the far side of the rink to where I was. No 1 was one of the few I took on my 70-200. That was cropped down a bit to keep it fairly tight. Like I said, a 300 on a 20D indoors is tight... and heavy! Great for sportraits though. My mate uses it on his 1D Mk 1 and on that it's a bit more flexible owing to the smaller crop factor. I want to borrow this in the Summer when I go to shoot a caoning contest, that and a 1.4x on a 20D in good light should be deadly.

Nice shots, especially Trevor the netminder. I can imagine it's harder to follow the game with the 300, at least with your main lense you can temporarily drop to 70 to see the bigger picture. As for the score it was to be expected. Alan
