Ok so it is not on the coast, nor in the mountains. No pond in the back yard unless you figure the bird bath is a pond. Last time I chercked there were no bass in the "pond" either. Neighbours are close but not much of a bother (they will have nothing to do with the crazy man next door). However Montreal is an island and this is the West Island section.
Looking west from the driveway. ![]()

Santa Ynez, California, about 25 miles north of Santa Barbara. Santa Ynez River at the bottom, Highway 154 running E-W, Santa Ynez mts above. Alfalfa fields green, oat fields brown. Old ranch buildings near the Hogback. Taken from a 1953 Cessna Bird Dog (L19) Canon 1D 28-134 mm lense, Oct 2003.

This is my city. Baltimore, MD. I live one county over actually, but I spend a fair amount of time in the city.
![]() These are more like my immediate surroundings... both taken about two miles from my house, while in my kayak. ![]() ![]() I don't really have any of my house. Oh wait! I do have an infrared looking out the window of my home office. Let me go upload it real quick.... *time passes* Ok, here you go. That's all I've got for close to home shots. ![]()

Those are fantastic shots, Laz. I particularly like the moon over Baltimore. Very nice shot.
I wish I had had my 10D (or any camera) when I used to have a boat up in Cleveland. Your picture reminds me of the incredible, almost surreal views of the city I used to get from Lake Erie at night.

Thanks Tom. I have yet to take the kayak downtown. I see people out there all the time when it's warm though. I'll have to do it so I can snag a nice shot of the skyline from an otherwise unavailable perspective.
I have to admit that I took the shot of the moon from the parking lot at work one evening, and then placed it into the night shot of the city to "spruce it up". You know, when I think about it... about 99% of the pictures in my gallery are from right around here. I don't travel very often (except in the summer), and when I do, it's only either to the beach in Delaware (most often), or the shenandoah mountains in Virginia... which is where I'll be from the 13th-20th of March

(Dries eyes, closes mouth and looks back to screen) Just the though of my camera being anywhere near waterputs the fear of God into me. You're a brave man. |
