...I think.
I was out walking the dogs one day (14th of this month) and came across this bird of prey 3 streets away from where I live. I've identified it as an Australian Hobby (Falco longipennis), but I'm not 100% sure. If someone can positively identify this bird for me I'll appreciate it. The 1st and last photos are resized photos from the originals, the middle ones are cropped. 1. Hey, what is that? I got very excited when I spied this near the top of the pine tree. ![]() 2. I'm cursing the branches right about now... ![]() 3. ![]() 4. A walk around the back to get more of an idea of what it might be ![]() 5. ![]() 6. ![]() 7. Another back view ![]() 8. I hated having to walk away but the dogs were getting impatient. This view roughly shows how far up it was. ![]() I think I've seen it a few more times since then so I'm going to try and find it again soon, preferably without the dogs in tow. Taken with 70-200mm f/4. C & C always welcome. Last edited by Flame : 26th of January 2007 (Fri) at 01:45. |

What a beautiful raptor. I know what you mean. These birds love to perch up high and choose the spot surrounded by branches, twig and leaves.
You need to find Mitcon and borrow his Sigma 50-500mm for this type of shot.
