Sorry for making you dought, but it's true. I've been shooting big-bore guns since I was little and I do long range shots for fun. When you pack around a 10lb gun all day you get used to the weight. I support the lens like I do my gun at the front and use my left thumb to focus. Everything balances perfect. I could take more clear photos if I used my tri-pod or monopod but I don't like packing them into the woods on hikes.

Wait, all that time and all I get is "Cream of the Damn Crop" ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's not just the "1000mm hand held" that impresses me, but how you got there. The 50-500mm with a 2X?
"Can't be done" I always say! On the other hand the 500mm prime with IS and a 2X, not easy, but doable. I'm impressed. |

Well done for very clear shots HH@1000mm, though I would have liked to see a little more bird in the first shot. Maybe without the branch in-front of him, but things aren't always that easy with wildlife lol. 2nd shot is a bit hot in spots and not an angle/perspective that does anything for me, all that said they are still amazing shots considering the focal length Vs shutter speed handheld.

very nice but i have to wonder why? why not up the ISO a bit or open up the lens to get better speed? i mean, this is impressive but you could have gained more sharpness by adjusting the F stop or ISO.

Yep, I can't do much about the f/13 that all she will do captain!
I could have gone with a higher ISO, will try different things tomorrow. Sun is starting to go down and losing light fast. Will be heading to a wildlife refuge tomorrow, I might be able to get a shot of a deer or two, and possible some ducks/geese.
