Question A question to G7 users.

Can G7 create a still image from a movie frame?
If yes, what is the quality of image?

Thanks.

Extract image from movie is soft related, it is always possible if you have the correct soft. The canon soft that comes with G7 has that option, but I've never tried it.

You will not get the same quality as for snapshot, as there are contradictorious parameters like:
- high frame rate (better movie) = lower aperture time
- fixed optical zoom (stable movie image) = less focus control

etc etc

You should use the correct mode for the correct objective.

I understand about image quality, but actually I'll need images from movie frame mostly for the intenet.

I've read in Casio Exilim EX-Z750 review that:

"... You can also create a still image from a movie frame using something that Casio calls Motion Print. In fact, you have two choices: you can just grab a single frame (which will be saved at 640 x 480) or you can create a nine-image collage of sorts which has one big image in front with eight other frame grabs behind it (see above). The collage is saved at the 1600 x 1200 resolution..."

Just I didn't understand well, camera can do this or software?

You can but the highest resolution of the file will be 1024 x 768. If the movie is shot in low light, the images will be soft and noisy. You can use the Image brwoser /Zoombroser to do this. Select the movie you want and display it in a separate window. Drag the play slider to find the frame you want and click on "save this Image". Good luck!

The nine frame pic you mentioned is just an extraction of frames from the movie pasted in a nice way to form a pic. As I said before, extracting frame from movie is soft related, there are lots of soft for that (search). Once you extracted the frame, you can create your big picture with nine, ten, N frames by pasting them.

My point is, you are talking about the programe that comes with the camera but not the camera... there are free and powerful soft for that.
