The pic isnt suposed to be good at all as far as composure, background, crop, ect. I was just P&Sing but i need to practice post editing and i just cant get things to look right. I see you're fairly new here so welcome to the forum! The first thing you need to do is attach the photo you want help with. :D

The second thing you want to do is update your profile to allow other members to edit your images. You do this by going into User CP on the forum menu bar - Edit Profile - Additional Information (towards bottom of screen) and check Yes under "Image edit and repost permission".

Well , you do have a very warm look to it. yellow hair, yellow background, very warm skin tones. Could use a little skin softening also. What PP program are you using?

where ya' from Joe?

Can you give more details on the shot setup? What mode and WB?

Ok, the first thing I would do if I were shooting JPEG and then doing PP work is to make a copy of it to work off of.

After that, I agree with Jon about the WB. It looks like you shot that with a Canon Powershot S3 with Image Stabilization at f/3.5, 1/60 sec. with flash in some Auto mode. I don't know much about the Powershot or what settings you have available, but you should be able to do some minor tweaks to WB in CS2 using levels. There are several posts and I know there was one very recently that covered this. I'm not familiar with the techniques because I would use either the CS3 or Lightroom betas, which allow you to adjust the WB on JPEGs.

It is hard to work with a low res copy but took a crack at it in any event. I have some addins for photoshop that will help me in cases where the balance is way off on this and I adjusted the temperature on this. I applied some skin smoothing and generally tried to clean things up.

Here is my attempt.

Im from Joplin Missouri. Im using Photoshop cs2, The shot wasnt realy set up, so I know that it may be a bad photo to begin with. I just caught my girlfriend while she was getting ready to go out so I had to act quick (she is one of those that usualy cover the face or make a funny face when you are trying to get a pic) so I just turned the cam on and snapped one off. Not to good at the quick draw shots yet. I was in P mode f/3.5, 1/60 sec. flash was used and on auto. It was in the bedroom and the gold curtains are what you see in the back. If all goes well I'll be getting a 30d this week, an just to start im going with the 18-55mm kit lens, 75-300 USM, and a 430ex flash. The S3 IS im using is good for an advanced point and shoot and I still have ALOT to learn, both with a camera and in post, but I wanna go ahead and make the step to the d-slr while I have the $$$$ and also because im impatant and want to have a cam i can grow with as I get better.

You did a GREAT job on that. I cant imagine what it would look like on the higher res copy on my comp!!!! What plug ins/filters did you use, if you dont mind telling? Really, that looks 100x better than anything I was trying in photoshop.

The plugin that I used to adjust the color temp on a jpg was Digital Film Tools, digital film lab 2. It's not cheap but it works real well when you have a real problem image.

For skin softening I used a process that was originally posted here by Mizuno. You can search for his skin smooth technique/tutorial that he has posted in the Raw post processing forum.

I would definitely check that out and you might want to leave it on Auto until you get more familiar with it. Your flash fired and it simulates Daylight. The image would be more blue than yellow with Tungsten.
