I would like to get a wide converter for my G3. Is there anywhere where I could buy one cheaper that the original Canon one (ie a compatible lens)which will work with the G3. Can anyone give me a link please?

Try tyhis one http://www.lensmateonline.com/. I prefer Canon quality myself, but I heard these lenses are also fine.

Thanks for your speedy response. They look to have a good supply but I think they are all a bit pricey for my needs. I suppose I should put it on my wish list.

PeterS45 - They were talking about the lens, not the adapter.
Autumn - I would recommend you get the Canon lens. It was specifically designed for use with the G3/5. I have been saving up, and with tax returns, I will have it. Sometimes it is just better to wait and get the right lens, than having to "get it now!" I have had my Canon Tele for a year, and have been wanting the Wide since then. I could have gotten a cheaper one, but I wanted the Canon lens, not a copy. However, I have heard "some" decent things about the lenses from Raynox, http://www.raynox.co.jp/english/digital/egcanong3.htm. There is more vignetting and aparently some color aborations with those lenses, but they are less expensive.

i paid 139 from a mail order place for my wide and angle and i must say that i am very happy with it so far...
you can also keep an eye on ebay, sometimes there will be some inexpensive ones on there, just have to have the patience of waiting and looking... heres a shot to show the difference between my stock G5 and one of the wide angle lens on it. ![]() ![]() |
