Default First portrait shoot

Well just before christmas i decided to invest in some studio flash lighting, i have been practacing a little taking pictures of family, when they allow me.
These pictures are from my first non family shoot, this is a couple i know, i convinced them to let me take pictures of their new addition.

Please give me as muc C&C as possible, i am new to this but loving every second of it, when i can find willing models !!

Like the toes too! Was the picture soft to begin with or is it something that you added? I tried for toes pictures but my boy was too wiggly for those and they blurred. ARGH!

As you said,, the toes were moving the original image was a little blurred and grainy, so i changed it to monocrome and added a little more noise.. i liked the effect, so does the couple. Think i will get it printed on canvas for them to say thank you..

Really nice, but I feel babies work best with dark backgrounds. Love the toes, but a bit too much grain.

I like the last shot the best with dad & baby interacting. What are you using for studio lighting (how about a shot of your studio!! ) All very nice shots, not real big on the toes one though.

After seeing the second shot I was going to suggest daddy looking at baby- of course you did that! I love it- and pleasant lighting too.

Well it worked. I think mine was TOO blurry to even fake a soft photo of it.

3rd shot is excellent

and i know this is REALLY picky of me, but my biggest bug-bear of child photography is dribble, and i can see a tiny bit on the bottom lip of the first shot

great work though!!!

Agreed re toes shot.

Color images are a little flat on my screen - maybe bump up the contrast a little?

Thanks everyone for your feed back, very helpful.
I will try to PP some of the colour ones again and boost the contrast ! i suppose i just didnt want the skin tones to change to much and was affraid they would..
