My 120-300 (non-OS) is going, via the dealer, to Sigma for tweaking. Auto-focus at wider apertures is suffering big time, really hit or miss, about 1 out of 99 is sharp

compared to this on a tripod / gimbal with lockup and remote triggering

Picked up this lens 2 weeks ago, used it for a 100km Ultramarathon event over the weekend.

A few shots, wide open or f/3.2.

Mounted on a 1DIIn, AF was great.

JPEG out of camera.

Hopefully going to shoot a few cycling events soon, and see how the AF handles faster moving targets!

My 120-300 has been back for two weeks , it's vastly improved. Still seems a bit soft at f/2.8 but that could be in my technique too. Its definitely got a learning curve.

For the people using this lens, does anyone know if this will fit into any of the holster type bags? Or on of TT's Lens Changer 75 pop down?

I honestly don't know about those products, BUT I will say this lens is as long as an extended 100-400L and quite a bit chunkier. It would take a pretty big holster to hold it and I doubt id want this 6lb lens strapped to my belt for any length of time.

Yes, just got a Lens Changer 300 yesterday, its more to hold my lens in place in case I have to run or dash to another location as I shoot sports and it gets quite frantic sometimes.

Hope to use it soon!

How does this compare to the 100-400L?

Would I be crazy to sell the 100-400 to fund one of these?

How well does it take to telecons, 1.4x or 2x.

What is the difference between D and DG versions ??

I have the non-os version, and monographix, I believe the different models are EX, and EX-DG. Sigma say DG is their designation for full frame digital.

As far as TCs, I use a Sigma 1.4x and a Canon 2x III on the 5d3, but I can only use the 1.4x on my 7d as there is not enough micro focus adj on the 7d to make the 2x work.
This was taken with the 2x and the 5d3 at 600mm.

This is the OS version. First time shooting with it. I only wanted this lens for sports. The auto focus was a little slow, but I'm no professional so I'm good with it. Another cloudy winter day in Alabama. Maybe we'll have some sunny games soon.
