Thanks DonE. Now that it's real cold, below zero most of the last two weeks, these guys are always out at the feeders. That's about the only good thing about the cold.

The nature center where I took these pictures has a horrible "blind" with a very tall bench and small hole to see through. With the tripod it's impossible to sit up and I end up hunched over the camera. Tried the monopod but when the birds move around so much from branch to branch it just seemed easier to handhold.

Is there an easy way to use a monopod when the birds are constantly going from branch to branch? Or do you just focus on one spot and wait for the birds to land?

I use a bogen 3421 head on a momopod almost all the time. Here's a link with pictures of it and a bigma mounted http://www.pbase.com/littleflurry/bogen3421.
