Okay, this morning was the first day of sun here in a while. I stopped by this trail to scope out some cool shots (camera was at home) and I couldn't believe the amount of freakin' litter.
What the hell is the matter with people? Now, I know the litterers were not photographers. They are lazy idiots, apathetic scum of human beings. Pathetic genetic refuse of mutated DNA. How hard is it to just use the damn trash cans? And if there are no trash facilities available, if you carry it in then by god you carry it out. It's pretty simple. I have a rule that I follow whether it's a hike in the woods or camping, or whatever. "Leave the area at least one step better than the way you found it." Whether it's picking up a stray can or fixing a toppled sign, we can all do one simple thing above and beyond the common sense of picking up after ourselves (although if the damn morons would just do the common sense thing, the rest of us wouldn't need to go the extra step to keep our areas beautiful). Well, that's my vent of the day.. I just can't believe how little people are willing to do when no one is watching... |

I agree wholeheartedly. Stupid crap like that just drives me crazy. You brought it in, why the hell can't you bring it out?

This is getting worse with every passing year, we are right back to where we were in the late '60s with human behavior towards this planet...
All the effort and brainwashing about recycling and protecting the environment of the late '70s and early 80's is gone. (remember how HUGE it was when McDonald's fianlly abandoned the styrofoam BigMac boxes )It truly makes me sick to my stomache |

I think we need to bring back commercials with the Indian (Native American) crying at all the litter in the stream. I thought those were great.

Ours has become a disposable society. Throw away lighters, flashlights, pop bottles, beer bottles etc. All this is adding up to one thing, full landfills.
I always pick up my trash, no matter if at the race track or camping at our campground. Of course at the campground as much as possible is burned but, cans, bottles, plastic etc goes in a bag and is hauled home for Mr. Sanitation Engineer. |

I'm with y'all - that's always been the rule as long as I remember. Take home "whatcha brung" (or maybe that was "dance with who you brought").
Anyway, I don't know if its worse today or not, but the problem is most assuredly there and its bad. It only takes a few people to make a big mess of things. Maybe as photographic-minded people, we're more cognizant of the problem, I don't know. All I know is that its hard to get a shot in some areas without getting someone's wrapper, can or other junk in it.

You want to see a trash filled shot, I'll shoot one after the Indy 500 of the turn 3 infield. That will make anyone's alley look like a clean park.

And it truly was the beginning of the very campaighn I was speaking of.. every year of my life,. things got better untill the early '90s when ecologically we took a turn for the worse.. the most visible sign was the return of Gas guzzlers in the form of SUVs. The Lincoln Navigator gets worse gas milage than a 1969 Cadilac! |

Have to agree with everyone about the problem getting worse! I am a municipal park super. and we spend a couple of hours every morning picking up trash from the evening before. Really no use complaining as Bruce Hornsby said, Thats Just the Way it is, just dont understand.

Yeah, Baltimore is filthy. I hate this place sometimes... other times I think it's the greatest though. Eh.. *shrugs*
I totally agree with everyone. I guess since we are photographers here, we all have a common interest in the beauty of our surroundings. It really is a shame when people disregard their very own environment, out of shear selfishness. See... this is why I prefer animals over people
