wow! banjo ledgen béla fleck and jazz ledgen chick corea as a duet was amazing. feeding off the other's every last note, they sounded great together.
i've never photographed this type of show. the lights were the same, and they even left some of the house lights on (so they could see us). i shot for three songs wich turned out to be pretty long. i was free to walk around the venue so i just took the 70-200 on the monopod and made a big circle around the place. at the end they tried to take my images, as the tour manager didn't know anything about it. our comp tickets and ok by venue marketing wasn't enough, but the email from the publicist was

good set. i like the solid blue backdrop. best of the series for me is the 1st and the last...esp the last one...excellent! looks like you caught bela's eye in #7 too

Very nice set. Great variety of shots given what looks like a fairly static setting.

sorry for the manager's antics...most depressing situation...it's great that email resolved the issue...i think, I'd have a heart attack if a manager tried that on me...

i bet the music was well worth it, hope it made up for the sour notes played by the mgr. if he didn't apologies, I'd be furious...

thanks y'all! i was happy with the set as a whole too.

it wasn't a big deal with the manager. i never even saw him. the house manager was they one that pulled me out of my seat and said he needed to see me and my camera outside, now. in the end the tour manger was mad at the publicist.

the music was well worth it. these guys sounded amazing together. they have an album that will come out in may and i highly recommend checking it out.

i also forgot to add to the original post that i felt back taking pictures because you could hear my shutter firing halfway across the venue. i was getting dirty looks from whoever i was standing by.

Number 8 reminds of the handful of times I met Chick Corea when I was going to school in Boston. He is just a little imp, always smiling, always positive and an absolute legend on the piano.

I guess I don't have to offer the typical congrats on your shooting if you can evoke memories from me like that. Well done, you took me back a long time ago!
