Q: Album Content - How much of Reception

I've searched as well as I can (I'm a little clumsy at it I think) and have been unable to find a posting - let alone a thread - that deals with my question.

I'm going to start offering albums because, as has been noted in other threads, it's a win-win opportunity.

What do you include in your wedding albums? Yeah, I have it figured out that we include some or most of the following if we've been contracted to cover that part of the day:

• the getting ready,
• the rings, maybe with the annoucement/program
• the signing,
• the trip to the location,
• the groom and his party,
• the bride and her party,
• romatic "alone" shot(s)
• the ceremony,
• the garter search,
• the bouquet toss
• the cake cut
• the B&G leaving the reception

Understanding you use only best of what you got, but, do you include anything for the party at the reception? Is there something I'm missing that should be (or usually is) included in the above list?

It is up to the bride and groom what is included in the album. They look at the proofs and decide from there. Different things are important to different people, and each album should be what the couple wants.

I predesign the album, if you let the couple choose it'll be full of only formals and guest shots etc. You predesign it, show it to them, and let them make changes if needed, usually there won't be many and it'll be a better product.

As for what to put in it, it just depends on what you've got.

If you charge per page, the more the better! Couples have a very hard time limiting the pages once they've seen it. I start at 60 pages (30 spreads) but usually only give a album credit for a 20 page, so they can cut out pages or pay for more.

This is exactly the sort of answer I was looking for - it opens up all kinds of possibilities.

And, I like the selling strategy!

I give customers the choice of letting me design the album, telling me their 20 favorite photos, or telling me all the photos they want in it. Most tell me their favorites.
