So does anyone else here use flickr seriously, or semi seriously?

I use it as a way for my commercial clients to follow along as I shoot events (with their athletes competing) from around the world. I also use it to post travel photos, phone photos etc for freidsn and family.

I started recently and ended up purchasing a pro account, it's a pretty fun system (especially the map, dear god, I am addicted to the map).

I have my own co-located servers, and I still end up using this syste instead. It is just so much easier than custom gallery installs etc.

So post your flickr URLs, maybe we can start a group?

I post on Flickr for fun, and because for $30 a year you can use them as an unlimited offsite backup. Now I can have my image library with me no matter where I go; I just find a computer and log into Flickr.

Ad agencies also occasionally go trawling on Flickr for photos and will make you offers. It's rare, but it happens.

Personally, I think Flickr is the best photo hosting service out there. They really beat Google to the punch with this one, and I doubt that Google can compete with the incredible service Yahoo provides with Flickr.

Flickr really isn't up to professional use, I'd say it's more of a social photo sharing site than anything for people to sell prints off, at least for now anyway.

You can find a link to the flickr POTN group in my sig, everyone's welcome to join.

I use flickr as a way of keeping a more recent and larger online portfolio than my website. some magazines ask for a recent collection of images and it comes in handy here rather than changing round the script of my entire flash folio.

However, for backing up images, i have both my own server (access from anywhere with an internet connection) and a mini portable hard drive, its great for taking on long trips when i know i might need photos but not have internet.

Love Flickr, use it a ton. Been thinking of getting a second account to seperate my family 'snaps' from the photos I'm really proud of.

A Flickr "pro" account just increases the amount you can upload per month. That site isn't for selling photos to other people. That's against Flickr Terms of Use and will get you kicked off the site very quickly.
