Default S3 IS with WC-DC58A, blurry edges

I'm getting blurry edges, mostly in the corners, using the wide angle canon lens. I do turn on the converter option in the menu. I zoom to the point where I can no longer see the black rim of the adapter lens.

What should I be doing to avoid this issue? Do I need to zoom more?

Here is an example

I don't understand why you zoom with a wide angle. Doesn't that defeat the pupose of using the wide angle in the first place?

Wide adapters almost inevitably have distortion at the edges.

If you don't zoom a minor amount, the photo displays the black rim of the adapter lens. I bump it to about 1.5x zoom, just enough not to show the rim, as I didn't see the point in taking pictures with a black circle around it.

I expected some bending, but I did not expect such high distortion. I'll have to play around some more.
