Simon, this photo lacks contrast, it needs some OOMPF, up the contrast a bit to bring in some colours

Cyberpet I agree with you and I was playing with the image in photoshop. I adjusted the levels and did an unsharp mask but I'm wondering how you got her skin to look so smooth and an even color?


Please share the step you took.

MrsOpie, I made two layers, one with Gaussian blur and made a layer mask to bring out the eyes, tip of the nose and mouth. Set the opacity to maybe 45% in normal blending mode. I also made another copy (same gaussian blur, but no layer mask) and set the blending mode to Soft Light.
