Really neat shot, it sure is better to view them against the snow instead of weeds (which is how all my shots are). Well done.

Thanks danceinc. Reeds are good too. The white background here makes for a tougher exposure. The Wild Turkey is in constant motion so it's not easy to get a good shot of it.

I just noticed you live in California. I guess you'll never get the snowy background I know someone who is actually visiting from California and enjoying the snow and winter birds up here

Love them both. The close-up is not a pretty bird but a terrific shot!

they must be from southern cal!

i guess you are not familiar with california.

in central and northern california it is quite different

carson pass and blue canyon, both located on the west sdie of the sierra nevada mts, 80-100 miles from sacramento, are tied for the heaviest yearly snowfall in the continetal U.S. , averageing 240(this is not a typo) inches a year. in 1986 a record 440 inches fell in that location.

the advatage we have is here is to go ski, snowborad, sled, crosscounty, or snowmobile in the morning and a few hours later be in afternnon sunshine and palm trees at 70-75 degrees.
