Just Curious, since I am looking for studio space, what kind of studio space do you use?
Are you working out of your garage, spare room in your home or do you have a seperate studio that is not part of your residence and are you a pro or a serious hobbyist? My ideal which I have had trouble finding would be a Live/work loft situation. I'd love to hear what you guys use, especially interested in hearing from the photogs in the Sacramento, CA area. Thanks. |

I'm converting an unused room in my home to a studio space having had no luck finding a decent affordable studio space in town. Most of my photography is on location anyhow, but I need studio space for the cold winter months when location shooting isn't feasible. As for my status, I suppose I'm a "semi pro." The majority of my work is shooting senior portraits and high school sporting events at this point, though I added weddings to the mix last summer. Next year, I plan to purchase or build another home in the area with a proper studio in a separate building on my property.

I have heard that it is very popular to transform a garage into a studio, so I am assuming this is the kind of space needed.
Mind you I don't have my own studio so I don't know much about it. My ideal studio/work space would be a room about the size of a garage, split into two rooms - 25% and 75%. The 25% would be the office, with a large bay window seeing into the studio, which is the other 75% of the "garage". Just my thoughts ... I'm sure someone with more experience will chime in. Best of luck Bryan |
