Default Baseball

I was going thru photos of my shoot from Sunday, and thought this to be really interesting. I have shot quit a few HS and College BB but have never seen an aluminum bat bend like this before.

Excellent shot.

I didn't realize those things had bend in them either. I thougth they just rebounded with the inner walls.

I noticed that right off as well...How wierd is that!

Are you sure it wasnt bent already? I wouldnt think so, but its a possibility...do you have anyother shots with him using it before the swing?

The reddish part between leather grip and silver part of barrel is carbon fibre and it is intended to flex like that. Kind of a flex/whip action Easton designed for more bat speed through the hitting zone.

Cool shot nonetheless and I'm sure Easton would love to see a pic like that.

Man that had to be some serious bat speed to get it to flex like that. Carbon fiber component aside, that took some power. Cool shot....

Thanks for all your comments, this is a great forum. This pic is from the pitch before, I caught it at about the same place in the swing. Must not have swung as hard! With bats that do that no wonder some pitchers duck, I know I would cause that ball was moving after the hit.

Thanks for looking

nice shot, I'm all for outlawing metal bats, it just gets back to the pitcher too quick, something like 2/10s of a second and many pitchers can't react in time. Not to mention they're forced to throw more and more junk early on in age since they can't throw it past a hitter and end up ruining their arms. sorry, end of rant

Hey Romeo and welcome to POTN -- glad you joined us! I've never seen a pic that shows that much forward bat whip -- that's down right scary. I'm with coreypolis on banning these bats too especially above high school level. Nice pics BTW except for no eyes, but then that's what we almost always get when the ball's in the box -- good exposure, nice colors and perfect framing.

Hi Jerry, thanks for telling me about this forum. Even getting down low and shooting up was still hard especially with the way the sun was Sunday lots of shadows. I will be covering the Stetson/UCF game on 3/27 @ 7pm will you be there?

Its not that he didn't have the power in the second photo, it's that he didn't make contact. That is what is making the bat flex. But anyways gromeo, very good timing, great photos. Keep em coming.

Romeo -- I doubt that I'll be shooting any more Stetson games this season now that Spring Training has started. Then soon after ST ends the Florida State League season begins -- it's gonna be a long summer !!

Exactly! The 1st photo is post contact ball/bat. Most amazing thing I saw at a MLB game was when Jim Rice (Red Sox fame) checked his swing and bat broke. That is unreal speed and strenght.

Here's one I took last season of an 11 year old...forgive the quality, I took it with an old Tamron 70-300@5.6 and it was really noisy too (before I got the GOOD stuff!). Look at the bat, unbelievable for an 11 year old!
