I used to do tournament casting about 10 - 12 years ago.
I saw Neil Keland cast just under 300 yards...! I didn't come anything like second that day... ha..ha...
Nice shots.

dang. i sure didn't know. being completely naive about the sport, i find it funny to see guys casting into a field.

cool captures. first one is really nice. too bad about the slow shutter speed on the second.

When the bar is 200 meters from the shore would be my guess.

The sport concentrates just on the casting aspect. we do also fish. the aim of the game is to cast your lead as far as possible.

you have to cast into a court which is just like the javelin, dicus and hammer only on a much larger scale. the court is normally marked out to 240 metres.

this is where most of todays new shore fishing rods and reels are put through there paces before going on sale to the public.

a strange sport to say the least but it does give you a buzz when you see the lead sailing away and the reel is screeming and the line is flowing of the reel at a fare rate of knots.

the lead takes approx. 5-6 seconds to travel 250 yards.

hope this gives you an insite as to what goes on.

i will try and choose the best couple of shots for each event i go to and then you guys and gals can tell me where i can improve in the quality of photo's.

I can say, that what I owuld like to see is their faces. I bet they are making some great expressions. can you get infront of them enough to capture facial expressions? Or do they allow that?
