Default Filters inactive in PS?

I just noticed that maybe six or so of the filters in CS2 are not avialable when using any other format except .jpg. Jpeg is the only format that will make all of the filters active. Is this the norm??

Are you in 16 bit mode with your other images (or in a funky colorspace like LAB)? Some of the filters are only available when working in 8 bits.

If you switch to 8-bit mode in any file type, you should have access to all filters.
Some can't function in 16-bit or above.

Yeah, I was in a 16 bit .tiff, trying to use Extract. I will try switching to 8 bit and see if that does the trick.

Thanks for the heads up!!!!

Thanks, you guys were right on the money. Switched to 8 bit and everything is OK in the world.
