As I've currently got a crop camera I've gone for the Tamron 17-50, I did have gear lust for the Canon 17-55 f2.8 but after using my brothers Christmas day I was a tad underwhelmed. It's a nice lens but not that much better at all than the Tamron.
If I was still on the 1D3 I would've gone for the Canon 24-70L, lovely lens that was. |

I've been getting fantastic results with the EF-S 18-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS kit lens. It's tempting to keep shopping around for something faster, but then I remember it has IS and that awesome focal range.

Heh! Let's just say that I recently sold my 24-70 but have kept my 24-105, and with my 5DC it is my favorite walk-around combo!

thanks guys this is an awesome thread. BUT this thread and poll is really old. Maybe it's time to update it with the latest available lenses? Can the awesome people on here please help novice's like me? Im starting out have a T2i which i have now learned is a small rat known as a crop camera.. I purchased a Canon 70-200 2.8 IS mk1. Now looking for wide angle/ landscape , and/ or a best walk around lens. All your kind help is appreciated.thank you.

Hellooooo.. Anyone? also.. is the 17-55 THAT much better than the kit lens 18-55 for the $700+ diff in price??
