Default Posing Protocal

With the many things to remember when doing a wedding, my wife noticed I need to place people better for group shots. I am talking about aunts, uncles, man, woman, etc. Can anyone help layout a general "rule of thunb" on how to place people in larger shots (5 to 10 people with the bride and groom). What is most most important? Relationship, gender, or how tall the person is?
Is there a template for this?
Help!

I try to get tallest peeps in the center or behind bride and groom. Ofcourse I always have mom and dad closest, the stack people around them.
