I was just looking on the lens sample images archive thread (that's a mouthful/fingerful!) and noticed the Sigma 12~24mm wasn't on the list. I figured I'd start a thread with some samples of what I've done with it.
I have some reviews up on my Pbase account, you can find this lenses review here: http://www.pbase.com/benjacobsen/sigma_12_24mm all the reviews are linked in my signature. on to some test shots: on my old 10D: ![]() HDRi with my 1DmII ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() and this is what it looks like: ![]() Ben

Does the Sigma 12-24 work on FF? I mean I expect rediculous vignetting wide open but zoomed to say 16-20?

yep. I know seeing as much info, first hand experience, and test shots as you can always helps. The other thing I'd love to see, is this lens compared on 3 different sensor sizes. I might be getting a XTi here soon, and if so I'll also post up some shots with that combination. I know of some guys using this on 5Ds too, so it gets really wide there...
I've realized the more I look at my shots with this lens, I tend to use it at 12mm more than all other FLs combined... Interesting. The other test I'd love to see, is this on a 1.3 cropped sensor, versus a 10~22 on a 1.6 and then toss in a 17~40mm or 16~35mm on a FF body just to see how they all compare.... Obviously different resolutions will effect the outcome a bit, but if you "water" them all down to say 8mp (or whatever the lowest of the bunch was) and compare them, I'd be very curious to see how they stack up. I like the idea of a super lightweight travel setup with a XT/XTi with the 10~22.... Ben

PLEASE get your friend to post some FF shots at 12mm. We are all dying to see I think.

Wow that isnt too bad at all. Heck my 10-22 does that sometimes when I put a filter on it and I don't mind because it takes very little time to correct it when shooting with RAW. NICE when I go FF someday I am buying this lens. Amazing stuff.

Wow, 12 on a 5d is definately wider than 10 on a crop.

Considerably. 16mm of FL compared to 12 on the wide end is huge.
I'm sold on this lens completely now. Especially since it's the only true UWA lens for 1.3 crop. |

Alot of great examples, much wider than the kit lense, I've decided that after seeing this... I need a wider lens!

I'm keeping this, but I think I also want the 17~40L for filter use and so I don't get too dependant on the whole 12mm super wide angle (seems when I use this lens 99% of the shots are at 12mm....) Ben

I had the 12-24 with me in China. I didn't use it most of the time (that was the 24-105) but 12 mm on FF (i shoot with 5d).... boy what an angle!
