Here is my photo for this challenge. I went to visit a Frigate and a Submarine and on the way home I took this shot of an old building. Some of the buildings on the military area is from 1890. I am not sure when this particular building is from.

Here is the building that inspired the idea, however; not the shot, that turned out way too noisy with utility poles and trees. This is our Community Building. To the west is the old Junior High School, now retirement condos. And it is where I went to 7th and 8th grades. The Community Building is attached via underground tunnel and was where the boy,s gym classes were held. In the basement was our cafeteria. Renovated about 10 years ago, the gym floor and stage were stripped and refinished, the cafeteria gutted and refitted. It is used for many receptions, etc.

Tamron 17-50 f/2.8 certainly distorted the percpective, but; I like it.

Very classic Art Deco style:

Tommy, I like the colors and lines in your shot a lot.

I have another building sitting in the wings until after a building I want to shoot tomorrow, then I will decide which to use as my second entry.

First shot... can you believe I've lived in Utah for over 15 years, and have never taken a shot of the LDS Temple here? I guess when it's something you see all the time, you stop 'seeing' it. I'm not Mormon, but I do think the Temple is a beautiful building.

Second shot, the stairs on our only multi-level parking garage in the whole city. It's new. We were excited.

Went round birmingham to finally do some shooting after a long absence... ended up doing more urban stuff than architecture, but here's a piece of history, over ten years the town hall has been covered up and just recently, our own bit of rome re-appeared :-p

It's not a fantastic image as I've just switched over to linux and am having to learn all new programs. But its an excuse to shoot, learn and join in

Finally, I manage to come back and contribute with something.

Oast houses in Kent. Where hops are made into beer...

I decided to head up to Maine for the sunrise this morning and found a few shots for this challenge.

Typical New England beach house

A beautiful stone church I came across in my rambles.

Cat seems we were both drawn to white buildings, yours is gorgeous and I like the stair well, very much.

Jinggling_John the Roman/Greek architechture certainly with stood the sands of time. Nice example you caught.

Pete I love those Oust houses, how old are they? They remind me of the smelting furnaces I've seen in the Upper Pennisula of Michigan.

BeccaNH Great examples of New England architechture.

75D Nice modern twist to the theme. I would love to photograph the convention center, great pallet of colors.

Barbara I love all the stone in this church and the white shutters add a great accent.

My second entry is a Frank Lloyd Wright design. It is the chapel in one of our local cemetaries. The ladies historical society was able to verify, several years ago, that this is indeed a FLW design:

Many thanks, Becky. The use of oast houses started in the mid 1750's and were used to dry hops for making beer.

More information is at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oast_house which includes a link the the place that Mark and I visited last weekend.
