Default question for you pros out there

I am going to be taking pictures of Dixie youth baseball, now here is my question. I have a local guy that owns a sports shop. He wants to use some of my pictures of the boys playing to put on his website. Do I need to get model releases for that? Would you? I was thinking about it but wasn't sure if I had to or not, I am new to all of this and just want to keep myself safe from backlash.. Thanks everyone
Kim

Since he wants to use them to peddle his products, I'd say you'd better get a release.

you might get more responses if this topic is posted in the "business of photography" section.
I agree with above post, when $$ gets involved, minors, etc., it's safer to get a release.

didnt think of that section.. Sorry.. Thanks so much.. Not used necessicarily to peddle product, but more to showcase local athletes and promote the Dixie Youth program in our area.. There are no websites in this area that give information on local sports except the small paper so he is wanting to use it for that as well.. I was thinking release as well.. Thanks everyone.

If your photo is to be used for other then editorial use, you must have a model release signed and if your subjects are under the age of 18 then it must be signed by an adult.
Even when I shoot for my local paper I tend to get names of people and inform them that the picture may be used for the paper and if they have any objections. If I ever wanted to use a photo that was shot for editorial to use in a commercial form or my personnel web site I would have to get a release from that subject.
