Novatron ML300-2

Is this a good kit to get for a beginner? I dont have much space and a friend of mine has this and she is looking at selling it.

I am pretty sure that you can't go wrong with novatron, but for that price I would look at some Alien Bees. They are very popular and very good quality for a much better price.
