Hi, I'm new to the forums and just wanted to contribute. I just took a walk to a bike path with a friend and decided to get some quick shots. I mostly just used the program mode and let the camera do most of the work.
Anyway, I'm a photography student at my highschool (we use B&W film SLRs) and wanted to try out my new camera. All I've done is some minor cropping and resizing. The only editing programs I have is the Canon zoombrowser software, Irfranview and GIMPshop (which I'm still learning). If this is in the wrong area I apologize and feel free to move it. C&C would be appreciated as I am still learning 1. "Opinions" ![]() 2. "The sign that's been stolen 3 times so far" ![]() 3. "The Trench" ![]() 4. "Can't get far from civilization" ![]() 5. "The sandy shore of the creek" ![]() 6. "Crossing over" ![]() 7. "Shattered lampost" ![]() |

First off, a big welcome to the forum. Stick around and you'll learn tons. As far as your shots, I think #6 is the best of the bunch and has good depth of field. 3, 4, and 5 just looks way too "busy" with no single subject with the other side of the coin being #7 which I like the simplicity. Again welcome to the forum.

With any luck we don't stop learning until we're 6 foot under.
I kind of like #6 because of the curves and the repeating patterns of the shadows. It looks in some of them that you're looking for textures and light. Try converting to B&W in various different ways; sometimes that brings what you're looking for out more.

Thanks for all of the feedback
I will continue to experiment with my editing tools to see if some of them can be improved. |
