Can this flash be used with Canon's EX flashes as a master and/or slave in ETT-L II mode? I'm looking for a more powerful flash than what Canon offers.

Not sure if you can use it as a master but you can use it as slave when it's paired with the QNexus module that attaches to the side of the QFlash.

PacAce is correct, the T5d r can only be used as a slave. The qnexus module plugs into the Qflash. The 580ex acts as the master which stays on your camera. J Rabin used this set up. Here is a link to the setup he uses http://postit.rutgers.edu/uploads/QF...Canon_ETTL.pdf.
You can go to Quantum's web site and order a free DVD that shows you Quantum' s product line, they also give you a brief demo on how the Qnexus works. www.qtm.com

Is the T5D as useable with Canon gear as the T5D-R?

Hi jr_senator,
Yes, I just had my T5d upgraded to a T5d r, all this means is that I can use the Nexus module and my cannon 580ex. Whats nice about the Quantum system is that it is modular. If for some insane resaon you wanted to switch to nIkOn, all you have to do is buy the nIkOn TTL adapter module. That bring up another point. You have to buy the DW-13 TTL adapter for the T5d to work with Canon cameras. If you are going to buy a T5d-r you need the DW-13r adapter. One thing I do not like about Quantum is the manuals and their website. It can be very confusing at times. I will tell you this QFlash is for not every one, but it blows the battery door off the 580 ex.
