Default red bellied woodpecker and rose-breasted grosbeak female

Couldn't master the in-flight techniques I worked on all afternoon, so I settled for some closeups of backyard visitors.

Wonderful close-ups . The red-bellied is a favorite of mine I have one that comes and visits me occasionally but I have not been able to get a nice portrait shot.

Man, you are stealing my close-ups! ( to quote Joan Crawford or somebody) Those are some terrific shots...be hard to pick my favorite. Way to go! (I still want to state for the record that whoever named woodpeckers made it really confusing...)
