Default RC Helicopter.....things are starting to come together for me.

My copy of Understanding Composition by Bryan Peterson got here 2 days ago and have already learned a lot. The biggest lesson I've learned is that you don't always have to shoot in Manual. Here's a shot I took today at the local RC airport. I'm pretty pleased with the results. This was taken with the 28-135 f/3.5-5.6 IS USM.

EFIX:
Av: 9.0
Tv: 1/200
iso: 100
exposure comp: -1
focal length: 135mm

Let me know what you think.

Nice prop blur! The WB seems a bit blue, & there's a UFO left of the tail?

That's a nice shot. About a stop underexposed I think, but you should be able to correct that with your RAW converter.

I agree you don't always have to shoot in Manual mode, but I think this is a situation where I would. When the helicopter drops low enough that the trees fill the entire background, Av or Tv will give you very different results compared to when the helicopter ascends and the background is completely sky.

Guy, you're right, it does look a bit blue. Here's a couple more.

I really don't have any more. The guy had a large Bell, but didn't have it out. There is a very nice RC airport, including a painted landing strip, just a few minutes away. With the weather nice, I'm going to have to get over there a bit more. I'll post some more when I get them.

Can I fly it? Never have found a post of a copter crashing in here yet. I like the shots. Practise makes perfect. keep it up. Do you have one of it coming straight at you?

Don't mind at all. The guy had a heli nearly identical to the one in pic #2. It was up on a table mostly taken apart.

Got to love the Raptor. I learnt on a Raptor 30 V1 and moved up to a 60. Hence the name
