Default Are The MKIII's Being Shipped Yet?

Just checking to see if the Mark III's are hitting the store shelves yet? I am still picking up mixed signals. Everything from the third week in May to late August. Why can't Canon just let the buying public know?
I bought a 5D last week and I read somewhere that they would be out the week of the 14th so I arranged for Ritz to upgrade from the 5D to the MKIII thinking I wouldn't have to wait long. Now I don't know when to expect it.

Popular opionion seems to be that if you pre-ordered a few months ago, then yeh, mid to end May. The backlog is so great that ordering today may well incur a few months wait. It will be interesting to see when they actually hit the retail stores.

Upgrading from the 5D after a week....I guess you like to keep on the "cutting edge" I don't know when the MKIII will show up on shelves but you've got a heck of a camera to use in the mean time.

There are on the shelves in countries near Japan. Wait two to three weeks. For The rest of the world.

According to Canon reps I spoke to today, it could be anytime in May, June, or July.

Some pre-orders are getting theirs now, but this appears to be a very, very small percentage and appears to be concentrated in Pacific islands. I don't think anyone in the US has actually obtained one through a retail source yet. (One guy in Australia is confirmed, but that's all I have seen so far I think.)

Was in Camera House Cannington (Perth WA) this afternoon. One left, $6K and it's yours. More due next week. Also have a 16-35L II, and what looks like a nice SH 24-70L.

Are you saying it was available off the shelf to anyone with 6k ? If so thats interesting and contradictory to what I've heard elsewhere.

Prediction of Friday for early-orders from Jessops (UK). I paid in full on April 1st (!) and believe that very few others had dropped the full wedge at that point.

Here's hoping....

16-35 mk II arrived last week by the way.

Local shop here said their Canon reps popped by and will not say when they can have even one, regardless of pre-orders. Couple pros there guessed September.

It sucks that that local shop won't even be carrying the 1D class camera unless someone orders one from them and puts down a deposit for it.

I plopped a big deposit about a month ago or so... waiting paitently for that monster. I just hope it's before the end of May as the busy season is getting close.

I ordered one from Ritz outside of Chicago today. They couldn't tell me when they were coming in but they did say there were only 54 orders ahead of me. I got the feeling this camera isn't going to sell as fast as say a D200 or other cheaper cameras. Maybe it's the cost, maybe people are just waiting to see how the camera works. I was really shocked that there weren's hundreds of orders ahead of mine.
I will keep the forum posted. Ritz said they would call me as soon as they heard anything.
