Here's a few shots taken today durring my lunch break while trying out my future lens, the Canon 28-105mm F3.5-4.5. It may not be an L lens, but it gets pretty darn close!

The 28-105 Mk II is an excellent lens for the money...you won't go wrong by picking one up. It may not have the contrast and saturation of an L lens, but these can be easily adjusted in PS. Sharpness out of the camera is pretty darn good too. Good luck with it.
