Default Product Reflection

Hi Everyone,

I'm having a little problem with photographing a product. I'm shooting the product on glass to get its reflection, but it seems to creat a double(ghost) reflect. Now I've seen a couple example in this forum, where the reflection is so clean a crisp.

So if you have any tips or suggestions it would be a great help.

THANKS

NIKKI

My guess is that the glass is to thick. You are getting a reflection off the top of the glass and the bottom of the glass. While I dont know the best thickness to use I would def. try something a little thinner.

Have you looked into Plexiglass, I took some baby shots using a piece of plexiglass (big piece I might add), check it out: http://photography-on-the.net/forum/...d.php?t=318905
Or just try a thinner piece of glass like RiveraRa suggested.

The glass is too thick as mentioned, or has something sandwiched between it (like safety glass). For all reflection shots, I use a think piece of plexiglass. Make sure its perfect if you want a good clean crisp reflection. Any scratches, even little ones, soften the reflection.

Here are a few examples of shots with pelxiglass.

Black plexi

This one was shot on a thick piece of glass. You can see the reflection isn't as sharp.

And this one was shot on a reflective piece of poster board. A whole different look for the reflection.
