Default problem !!

This is the website of

Robgr85.

The picture in his banner is mine. I posted it on this thread. Robert (robgr85) emailed and pm'ed me asking for permission to use the photo after he had posted it on his website, along with a copyright notice at the bottom of his page saying all photos are © to him ! My watermark has been removed.

I asked Robert to either remove the photo or to buy a digital download from my gallery. I sell low res photos for $5.

I don't want to start a flame war but the principal here is that I took the photo. It is © to me. If he wants the photo he can buy it. By leaving it on his site and claiming © he is in breach of copyright. I do wonder if this is acceptable behaviour for a member of this forum?

Fireblade,
I certainly do not think this is fair. One of the reasons that I post my pics on this forum is because you need to be a registered member to view the photos. This makes me feel a bit more secure in posting.
I hope this gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Simple. You are right, he is wrong...
What was his reply to your asking to remove it?

Well, there's nothing like getting a black mark on one's name - particularly when one puts it there one's self.

I don't forget names easily - the bookmark feature is useful.

Ok, everyone time out:

I think this is a good a time as any, to tell everyone about a simple tip that can keep people out of trouble:

" IF YOU ARE A PHOTOGRAPHER, AND A MEMBER OF THIS FORUM, YOU SHOULD PROBABLY NOT USE OTHER MEMBERS IMAGES (Specially Copy and Paste, not against purchasing) ON YOUR OWN SITE. IT IS SIMPLY DUMB"

Sorry, I knew I was forgetting to say something all this time.

Please, go on.

(I would have PMed a Mod directly, but I think overall this thread does more damage to the individual who disrispected your work, than anything else. You now have to allow the person to defend themselves though, that may suck but I heard it works that way).

Unfortunately not René, my picture is still on his website without permission. I would like the picture removed.

I certainly am well convinced of the prior publication by Seamus on POTN years ago, comparing it side by side to Robgr85's web site. All POTN members should send an email to Robgr85 advising him of his infringement, and maybe the moderators should ban him from POTN!

what defence does he have? he put my picture on his website without permission. He removed the watermark. he was asked to remove the picture from his website and he made the derisory offer of re-instating the watermark. He was told that he could buy a digital download for (a reasonable) $5 and hasn't. This is a breach of the rules of this forum.

Glad you asked. Here is my take:

Though I took it humorously, there is a very serious tone to the post. I can't just go around and using forum photos for my own website. I mean it is a nice idea in concept, but everything about it is wrong (can you imagine if we all did that?... insane)

I am hoping that the photo is removed, apologies are made, and thread locked. But that is just me. I am famous for not thinking like most people. I am sorry that someone made a bad decision by using your work, and I hope it gets resolved.

chill out man!

As I have written to You, this website is only 'team project' for my school purpose and after review of my teacher it will be taken down. All of the images too. The gallery was made by one of my friends, do not know where he had taken the photos from. I'm the author of layout (in which i manipulated Your picture) and all scripts used for managing the website.

I'm not stealing the images. I thought It would be good idea to ask for the permission of the author of the picture. I asked, then! You refused, so I 'll remove it in few hours if You do not allow to use it(would be cool to use it ~10 days more, but I'll find another picture to replace it, now I'm going to sleep so it will take about 10-12h). What is the problem? Why to post it there? RelaX!

Robert,

© - it is about text & all scripts used to build site into one piece.
