Default Ladybugs in Love...

...or at least perpetuating the species.

This is the "male superior" position, in which the male feels superior when he can figure out a way through the polka-dot armor.

They're on a pumpkin flower and they have such a high shine, I'm surprised not to be able to see myself.

They're also a thank-for all the nice commments on my javelin-wielding pumpkin plant. Both shots were taken the same afternoon.

Don

Canon G2, +15 diopters, no shame.

FrankC... thank you.

CDS... that's one of the great reasons to post here... for others' insights into helmets and all sorts of things. Thanks.

c0ntr0lz... thanks... I'll post details when I get back to my other computer. I seldom think about doing it these days.

In the meantime, I can offer the technique I use to get things in focus using +15 diopers: I half-press the shutter to get something (anything) in focus and then I move the camera in and out slightly until I see exactly what I want in focus. The depth of field is so shallow that you need to make decisions on anything that's not perfectly flat.

Cheers,

Don

Hi... I just reread my description of focusing and it wasn't too focused... so I added a couple of words that help it make more sense.

polka dot amour in their polka dot armor

they are so tiny to photograph

and what a beautiful pumpkin flower.

That is one of your best, Marie... wish I'd thought of it.
