Hello all!
I am wondering if I can get some last words on this business card design before I send it off to the local printers. I'll be gettingn 1000 copies made, so I want to make sure I'm happy with it before I get them produced. Our market is sports photography (little league) and slowly getting into weddings and portraits (hence the more elegant look imo). ![]() Thanks in advance! Bryan |

I have had a similar problem. I am trying to break into the automotive and aviation photography. Every now and then, friends and family ask for some portraits. How do I advertise such diverse markets? I think you have a classy card that is "Open-Ended". While it does not portray your speciality, it does provide vital contact information and web address--thus the holder can see your portfolio.
I tried to put my "market" on the card itself. I want the holder to have the first impression being that I am primarily aviation related, and secondarily automotive, sport and landscape. But it too provides vital contact and web address information. The bottom line...I struggled with this same issue...It is your personal choice. And, If you like it then your customers will probably like it too.... Good luck! Rich

If you haven't decided on a printer yet check out Overnight Prints. You can get 1000 cards for $39.95, they ran mine and they look great.

I dont have a comment about the specific design but I am curious to know why you have used two domain names on the cards, some people may find this confusing and I always think having www.yourdomain.com and then an email address of yourname@yourdomain.com, or info@yourdomain.com etc is a much clearer brand than having a different domain for your website and email.

ok guys ill throw my 2 cents in,
To the OG poster, I like the card, very simple but sometimes simple is better. If I was looking for a wedding photographer and I saw your card I wouldn't be to intrested. why? Because memories in motion makes me think action, to the consumer it would appear you are better in action like sports vs weddings. This is the same issue I had when I made mine, so what I did was make 2 sets of cards, when a couple is looking for someone to photograph that special day that want to make sure it's going to be right. So you need to aim your card at one type of business. What I would do is make one card for Weddings, glamor, and family picture. You would only need one wedding photo of a bride on the card thats faded to work. People will see that you can handle a bride you can take on there family or glamor. Now with sports make a simple card listing the events you specialize in and design something cool and fun. Bring action into the card. Hope that helps Now to the second poster, I like the card but it looks a tad messy, I cant read your contact info and this is on the net so your cards bigger here then in real life (2x3) Also the over laping of the wing kinda takes away from the nascar, and for me seeing a nascar car on a regular road is confussing. I would say maybe make the front a little less busy and chill the drop shadows. Also I love overnight prints.com, great work and fast service

Thanks for the advice. Your right, I was trying to get a lot on a little card, and it may be a bit cluttered. The dropped shadows look great on the printed card...I agree that it looks a bit poor on the screen (Expecially when blown up)
Thanks Again ! Rich Quote:

What other colors would you suggest for a monochrome print?

bcap, as I've mentioned before your general design theme across your stuff is pretty good. The card does look slightly simple due to it's monochrome colours, but IMO whether that matters will be dependant on what stock it's printed on. A nice semi-shiny matt finish would look lovely I think. Main problem for me is that the text "photography" and "www.mimphoto.com" are a bit squashed and I'm not sure how that will look printed. Same goes for the email address...
Re the second poster, erm... ![]() It just doesn't work, sorry. Main thing is the drop shadow on your details. The pictures themselves will be very busy once printed, possibly not even work. My advice, take it to a graphic designer...

So there are a few new things.
First of all, thanks to sledhed for recommending the print house for the cards - they far surpass my local rates, and they offer full color. Therefore, the card above will see some revisions - a conversion to color! 2nd of all - OOPS! I forgot to change the email to my new one. Will update that. Thanks for the comments guys! Bryan |

Have you shown the card to your printing company yet? The ink bleeds off all sides, and they may want the original art set up in a very specific way for them to be able to achieve that. They're going to need to do extra cuts, and that usually costs more money.
The web site address looks kind of scrunched sitting on top of the gray. Unless you're trying to achieve a certain look, you might want to take a look at it with a bit larger point size, and a few points higher up. Italics are generally used for emphasis, so you might want to consider putting your e-mail address and phone number in non-italic type. And again, the point size is kind of small. When you look at the card in the enlarged size, it can fool you into thinking that the card will function optically at 3.5x2 inches. |
