Default NYC: The Bike Locker

Here you have to lock your bike every time you park your bike. If you leave it unlocked, you'll be really lucky if your bike is still there five minutes after you turn your back to it. Lower Manhattan.

Thanks Brandon! Hey if I remember the book "Hunt for Red October", isn't 'Akula' russian for shark?

Hahah, yea - Akula is shark, but for me I just got lucky in choosing the name a long time ago. Here's my long and somewhat crazy explanation from the super macro guessing game thread!

Dare I say... yes - I'm a recovered World of Warcraft addict. I have a nerd friend who got me hooked on that smack - I spent over a year of my life in a dark room with just a computer, only venturing away for sleep, school and sustenance (as well as one other "S" word. lol) It took an intervention from my parents and many close friends for me to quit cold turkey. I've now been MMORPG (Massive Multi-player On-line Role Playing Game) clean and sober for almost a year! HAHAHA

And it's so weird, because really... I'm not a computer geek at all - that game is like crack! Stay away from it!!!!

Crazy story, Brandon, thanks for sharing Phil, thanks! Well all get together soon this summer. I hope we can get a regular group going, maybe meeting at least once a month.

Brandon, lol, what one needs is a good pair of running shoes, and the ability to outrun your fellow photographers. Just kidding, it is largely safe to trudge in the streets here, especially in numbers. There are some places though that I'd have second thoughts going to.

Thanks LD! They have been doing that ever since the Republican National Convention several years back. Payback for protests by the Critical Mass Ride against the administration. Oops, that's enough political talk.

Hey we gotta get together sometime, maybe shoot all angles of the Unisphere.

Sounds Good as soon as I get the OK from the Dragon Lady. Seriously, it does sound good maybe like one weekend in Late Sept or Oct when its not so hot outside.

BTW is that Confucus Plaza to the right. I use to hang out there when I was a kid trying to pickup chicks and there use to be a chinese threater there now I think its a Bank.

Pio, I see that you have umbrellas in this shot- opened AND closed... You should make up a gallery full of umbrellas- for me I always love your photos- you knew that.
