Default Epson R800 and 10 x 15 cm Photo Paper - ICC profile?

Hi!

I bought Epson R800 inkjet printer a few weeks ago. I really like the prints already, but need some help.

Has anyone figured out what ICC paper profile should be used with Epson Photo Paper? I have downloaded profiles for matte, glossy and semiglos paper but not sure which one should be used with standard photo paper.

thanks,
ylikojola

Standard photo paper is not meant for pigment inks R800 is using. You'll need Premium Photo Glossy Paper for it, results are excellent. Try also heavyweight matte which is much cheaper and still very good.

That's pity. I have some packets of 10 X 15 cm standard photo paper left.

I later found this info on Epson USA website about paper types for R800:

Quote:
Paper Types

Supports a variety of Epson photo papers, 4" and 8.3" roll papers (roll paper holder included), plain, bond and air mail papers. Supports Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper, Premium Semigloss Photo Paper, Premium Luster Photo Paper, Enhanced Matte Paper, Matte Paper Heavyweight, Double-sided Matte Paper Heavyweight, Inkjet Transparencies, Photo Quality Ink Jet Paper, Premium Bright White Paper, ink jet printable CDs/DVDs.

In Finnish Epson website standard photo paper is listed.

Stylus Photo R800 Lisävarusteet ja tarvikkeet
Stylus Photo R800 Media
A4 Premium Ink Jet Plain Paper C13S041214
New A4 Bright White Ink Jet Paper (500) C13S041749
100 x 150mm Photo Paper C13S041255
4" x 6" Photo Size Photo Paper (Perforated) C13S041134
A4 Photo Paper C13S041140
A4 Photo Paper Cards C13S041177
A6 Photo Quality Ink Jet Card C13S041054
5x8 Photo Quality Inkjet Card C13S0411
That has to be an error. I hope they update that info soon.

I have found that on proper paper and icc profile the quality is really outstanding.
On the other day I showed a few A4 prints to my colleague and he liked those, but when I said that "quite nice output from inkjet, eh?" he looked at me as I was joking. He tried to find something that would distinct it from traditional print, but couldn't find any.

Only one minor problem is that printer seem to crop the picture, see http://www.photo-i.co.uk/Reviews/int...800/page_9.htm. To me, it seems that this problem is not resolved yet.
