Default What is a good long-life battery to use?

Is the Canon BP-511A good? What is the expected usage time?

Is there an option with a longer life?

Here, try this. It's a sterlingtek battery and will last longer and is an outstanding battery!

It's the same place I recommended! Sterlingtek.com. You really can't beat them.

I have both and the 511 is lower mAh than the 511A. The 511 is 1100 and the 511A is 1390.

Hey, i'm looking to buy a battery as well and ran across this post.

I thought BP-511A is 2000 mAh not 1390...no?
Also, will my Canon charger be able to charge these batteries since oem battery is 720mHh

Is there other brands you guys recommend that will last long?

Confusing topic! When Canon introduced its digital cameras, the battery had the 'BP-511' designation. Later Canon introduced cameras with a higher capacity 'BP-511a', which was otherwise identical.

Then the aftermarket launched batteries with numerical capacity HIGHER than the BP-511, or LOWER than the BP-511a, or HIGHER than the BP-511a, but used the generic number 'BP-511' for all types!

So always look at the mAh spec for a battery, rely upon 'BP-511' only as an indication of the physical form factor (it fits!)
