Default How do I add a "subcribe to my blog" link?

I want to add a subscribe to my blog link on the right hand side of my blog but I can't seem to figure it out. Do any of you know how to do it?

MrsOpie, You have a blogger blog same as me and this is something I was also interested in doing but havent got round to doing yet so thanks for posting this as its served as a reminder for me !

Ive just googled a bit and it looks quite easy to do via a widget added to your blog and theres lots of different suppliers that are offering this, but ive just settled on feedburner and am setting that up now. One of the reasons Iive chosen feedburner is that they look like one of the biggest but also google have just bought them out.

I will stick some step by step instructions up when I have finished setting mine up, hopefully a few mins.

Well that was very easy to do !

1. SIgn up for a free feedburner account > http://www.feedburner.com/
All this involves is a the address of your blog, email address, password and security question.

2. It then walks you through creating a feed for your blog, offers you the option of Atom or RSS, doesnt really matter which you choose, I chose RSS

3. This quick start guide sexplains all the different ways of setting up subscription options. http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/help/blogger_quickstart

4. I did mine via the html code paste route. So down near the bottom of the publicize page theres the code that you need to copy from the feedburner page and then paste into a new page element (HTML or JAVASCRIPT type) in your Blogger setup.

Its a 5 min job to do it and the only thing that makes it a litle confusing is all the options you have for creating feeds in feedburner!

Added it to my blog anyway so if you want to see it in action the link is just below my menu on the right hand side. http://boundlessphotos.blogspot.com/

Edit : Forgot to add that this is designed to work with other blogs and not just blogger blogs, many others are supported in this same easy to use copy and paste code manner.

Another tip for blogger users that I found whilst digging around in there today.

If you login to http://draft.blogger.com/home instead of the usual blogger home you can have access to new features that they are currently testing, couple of which are below.

1. You can post videos directly into a post - So when you create a new post alongside the usual post images icon is another icon for posting a video, quite a few different formats are supported and you can post videos upto 100mb in size, very handy!

2. Post a poll to your blog - in the layouts > page element screen you can add a page element thats a poll about anything that you want. You could do this before by using third party widgets/code but you can do it directly in blogger now, again thats dead handy.

Whats betting that now they have bought feedburner an email subscribe option appears soon directly in the blogger options

Nps matey, thanks for reminding me I hadn't done this yet for mine.

You are aware youve added it as a newsreader link rather than an email subscription link ? Thats a bit more specialized than people just getting emails when you add new content. You can of course add both but for the wedding market I think email subscriptions is probably the best.

Good stuff and no probs

Its worth spending some time in your feedburner account (if you havent already done so) particularly in the publicize and optimize tabs, adding things like ping shots, items in feedflare and activating other things will ensure that your data stream is spread as widely as possible which is all nice free ways of advertising your blog/business and long term any links back to it will help with page rank as well as maybe picking you up some customers.
