Hiya Pete,

Lovely shots, #2 is my favorite, it's a strange thing as we used to get quite a number of ' Variable Burnets ' round these parts but they seem to have vanished over the last few years.

Cheers for now
Mark

Nice set Pete, strange the way the wings on #3 are to the right of the abdomen. Super detail.

interesting look at noise levels with 350D from 1600 ISO in the first shot to 800 then 400 in the last. 800 looks to be the limit really for my taste.

I've never heard of the burnet being called that before. I've always known them as five spot burnets. The second shot is of an azure damselfly.

Lovely shots The burnet has come out very well and I really like the pastel shades of the second damsel shot.

agree with Eccles, Five-spot Burnet - although there are some sub species this looks like the normal Zygaena trifolii decreta.

Thanks RM it I did not have my flash with me, how do you look at the camera data on posted pics?
I did not know you could do that I'd better set the time and date on the camera !

Thanks Linda I was pleased the Burnet turned out OK it was early in the morning and I did not bring my flash with me. I will have to start using it !

Thanks for the ID Eccles and RM I got the ID from the Collins Wild Guide butterflies and moths although I have since bought the Complete British Insects by Michael Chinery.

right click then click on 'view exif' - some photos such as stacks will not allow exif. I think you have to have imaging software installed on the PC for this to work - obviously you will have. Date shows July 5th.
