I was chatting to Sam at D & D Photographics (Sydney Australia) and he mentioned they are taking pre-orders for the 1Ds III.

He said it will be announced in October sometime, 22MP and around $13k (Aus)

Just thought some people might want to know...

Chris.

I'm surprised that they would go over $9999.99. What price was the 1DsMkII released at?

Sorry, but this sounds like a load of crap to me. If Canon actually leaked details like that ahead of time to dealers, they'd end up on a lot more places on the Internet than just this forum.

$7,999

so for the new 1dsMK III, $9,999 would make sense though. Well if indeed they release 1dsMk III, you will not see lots of people preorder and try to make profit out of it just like the mk III. :)

$7,999
:)

Okay, then I would guess that Canon would position the new 1Ds Mark III at $8999 or $9999.

I bet Canon won't put a MSRP price on the press release for the 1Ds Mark III.

I don't buy this one a 50% increase in price over the old model. This would make me want to upgrade.

In a constant state of flux.

All I will say is if the price is 11k US, then it better have 16-bit pixels, 22+MP, and shoot at 8FPS, and not have auto-focus problems, otherwise I won't be feeling the need, because it will be out of my budget I barely still have for one.

Oh and it better come with a handgrip strap standard.

Guys it will be around USD8k just like the last one. Aussie prices have always been relatively higher: http://www.canon.com.au …/cameras/digital_slr.html (external link)
