This morning on the way to work I set up my G1 on a tripod, "P" mode and using the IR, I tried to get some pictures of a bridge about 1 mile from me. The bridge is lit with street lights etc. When I downloaded the pictures, they were fuzzy. The pictures are usless as they are. Should I have used Manual Focus? Or might I have a problem with the camera. It is new, 1 week old, and I am learning.
Thanks Frank |

Couple of things come to mind about night shots:
a) manual focus (to infinity) b) ISO 50, F3.5 to F8, exposure 1.3s or over (for noise reduction) c) use a good tripod on firm ground (e.g. on wooden floor your footsteps will rock the tripod). d) shoot on calm weather (low wind: steady tripod) e) use timer or remote f) shoot in RAW (a bit less noise, white balance by picker tool)
