Okay; judging by many of the photos I see here that has, probably, happened to many of you but this is my first.
I took some photos of our navy's latest submarine, HMS Astute, when it was launched here in Barrow and posted some at Shipspotting.com. One of them caught the eye of the editor of a Naval related magazine and I got an email asking for my permission for it to be used in an article about the submarine. Of course I said yes. I am strictly a hobby photographer and the chance to get one of my pics in a magazine was something I could not resist. I had only had my EOS400D for two weeks, when I took the photos, so I was still getting the hang of it. Just couldn't resist blowing my own trumpet. Sorry if it bored you.

HMS? Ah...you're from the UK...LOL sorry...too bad they closed all the naval bases in Northern California, in fact the main shipyard on the west coast that built the Fast Attack subs was where I grew up in, alas that's all moved up to Washington State. Would have been nice to have photographed a Fast Attack docking into port at Mare Island.

Thanks for the kind comments. Sorry for the delay in posting the pictures. A combination of time zone and work is to blame. Here is the photo that was published in the July/August issue of Warship World magazine.
HMS Astute-.jpg You can find more pictures in my Fotopic album here. http://david-j-ross.fotopic.net/c1298492.html

Congratulations - feels great right? My debut was in a mag limited to '57 Chevy's. I still remember editing that shot of a turquois blue nomad. - and no, it wasn't in the year that the car was new.
