I normally cull shots that show up the batter, meaning if the batter swung and missed with the ball still in the frame I delete it. I know it was good for the pitcher but he's not in the picture. So what do you think, is this shot showing up the batter because the ball is behind him or did he have a good eye because he pulled the bunt back on a ball. I can't decide if the shot works or not, so what do you think? EXIF is embedded.

I dont think it shows him up, he's watching the pitch through pulling the bunt back, thats not a bad thing usually - it means he has a good eye. His age he's even still watching the ball through the strike zone - I have HS kids who dont do that! I would keep this one to.

Looks like an outside pitch to me so I say keep it, like said before he shows he has a good eye watching the ball all the way to the catcher.

Chris - It works for me at this playing level. I think the decision to keep or cull images like this depends on your expectation of their market value. It's a safe bet that parents would buy this image so I'd keep it. However, if the photo was of a pro player I doubt that it would have any market value and I'd cull it.

I think it is a great shot and a very unique one. A keeper, for sure.

Great shot!!! As to showing up the batter ... you are far too sensitive ... even though these are kids (IMO). Every pitch is recorded and becomes part of the batting average. Two out of every three attempts at bat the pitcher get the better. So it's okay to show 2/3rds of the game.
Remember that for photos of sports that use a ball ... a "general rule" is that the ball's gotta be in every shot for that shot to work. (There are always exceptions to the rule.) Gary |

Thanks for all of the comments and the ball was (say it in your best Bob Uecker voice) "Just a bit outside". As for the shot it's one of I would normally cull but I liked it and agree with Jerry that it works at this age level. I wouldn't have kept it if it had been a pro player.

I like it... to me, the kid looks like he knows what he's
doing. sometimes in that particular position, you can get them in tentative or awkward looks... this isn't one of those.

Chris,
I'm sick of you and your pictures. You're making me look bad. (For those of you that think I'm being an a$$.... Chris and I are friends)

I like it, I dont' think it makes him look bad at all...looks good for the batter...I did not even think about the pitcher...pulled back a bunt..watching the ball go by. Good capture

Save that shot for when he makes the big leages and you can say he had a good eye even back then
