I took some shots inside an old church today and spotted a red dot on various shots in the same position. (at the edge, maybe 10% in)
I started to look back thro my albums and it appeared in June last year - I just have never noticed it! I doubt if anything could be done with it but wondered are they common? Regards Dave |

Hmmm I wonder if it is contagious, I have just come here to ask about a hot pixel that shows as a red dot on every photo taken on my A80, the pixel is to the lower left of the frame about 10% in.

Recently i have also on my ixus 400, it's on lower right on picture, so since it uner warranty, then I make an claim about it.
It's finish repaired about 2 working days with replcament of optic module of camera (CCD) so now 'm using new CCD that mean almost same with using new camera since CCD has life timer. |

I ran a deadpixel programme on my Ixus and this shows a cluster of 6 hot pixels adjacent to each other, hence the red dot.
I checked my purchase receipt and the camera wasn't 15 months old as I thought , but literally 3 weeks outside of the 12 month warranty. I then decided to phone Canon UK, since not only had the warranty only just expired, but I have photos in June 03 with the problem apparent when the camera was new. Canon have asked me to return the camera to them and they will "consider repairing it" Watch this space |

I rang Canon service today to see how my repair was going, since they have now had the camera 4 weeks and I am going on holiday.
They casually informed me that the technician hadn't loked at it yet and wouldn't do for several weeks as they were very busy. I have asked them to return it to me without carrying out the repair. It just isn't worth the wait. The turn around is clearly not acceptable and they need to get their act together and get more staff. Over the past 10 years I have purchased 2 Canon digicams, a pair of Canon binoculars and no less than 6 Canon printers, not to mention the small matter of thousands of pounds worth of ink. Whilst I do like their products, other people make similar products and they will not see the colour of my money again. I use the Ixus for business purposes and I can't afford this sort of lousy service. |

I hope you have more luck with Canon than I had.
I have decided not to bother sending my camera back again, because I need it for my business and can't afford to do without it. I will be buying another digital camera next year, as the development of them continues and because of my experience I will be loathe to purchase another Canon unless it is head and shoulders better than the competition.
