Its that time of the year for me to get a bag. The two bags im looking at are the crumpler 7 million dollar home and the lowepro stealth reporter 650 AW. I want this bag to be able to hold all of my gear and also be able to carry only one or two lenses for a day out shooting. I dont have all this yet but the kit i hope to have is this 30D, 50 1.8, sig. 10-20, 24-70, 70-200 1.8. So which will be best for my situation? Or if there are any bags you think i should look at please let me know. I hope to hear someg great advice. Thanks.

i have the 7 million dollar bag and love it. it look like a messenger bag.. and great for the city. you shouldnt have any problems putting your gear in the 7 million. i have my 20D w/ Grip attached w/ 24-70 f2.8 w/ hood reversed. sigma 10-20 w/ hood reversed, 70-200 f2.8 IS w/ hood reserved.. and my 550EX flash.. and some backup batteries...

I use the 650AW (the older version) for my 20D/grip, 16-35 f/2.8L, 24-70 f/2.8L, and 70-200 f/2.8L IS (all with hoods mounted, reversed on the 70-200) plus a meter, flash, and a whole mess of smaller accessories.
I really like the bag. It has one of the absolute best shoulder pads with a non-slip surface that any bag I have ever used (including luggage or camera bags) has had. Even though my bag, when loaded, weighs in at 24 pounds, it isn't difficult to carry at all. I can very easily get all the equipment in and out while carrying the bag.

i fit everything in my sig, well not the mono and tripod, into my 7mdh... the second body makes it tight, and all the metal makes it heavy.
But it's totally doable.

From what you are going to put in it I would suggust the D550 AW instead of the 650. The 650 is pretty large and you would not want to carry it if it's full. Also it's not a small bag so using to carry a lens or two wouldn't be convenient IMO. I have both the D650 AW and the (older) 500AW and I use the 500aw as a travel bag. Be aware though that both of the new 650's and 550's have a laptop compartment that my not be suitable for what you need.
edit: The 650aw is not a slim bag either I think the Crumplers are a little close to your body so it might be more convenient for walking, urban stuff etc. The 650 & 550 you can have a lens attached and grap right thru the flap though. |

hmm, what i would really love is one the same size as the d650 or d550 with no laptop section but its no big deal. I can put other things in there.

I have the 7MDH and fit my entire kit but the tripod. Still have lots of room and have an extra battry, filters, rocket blower, etc. in it with room to spare.
Very nice bag! |

does anyone know anything about the Stealth Reporter D400? Is it as big as the D650 without the laptop section?
