Default Canon 70-300mm IS USM v's Sigma 70-300mm

I bought the sigma lense as a 1st extra lense however I have found my sigma pictures "soft" & I know i wont get much for it if I trade it in ( I only paid $250 Aussie dollars for it) & am thinking of replacing it with the Canon 70-300mm IS USM. Will I notice a huge difference or shall I spend my money on something else?
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi there. Are you referring to the APO DG version? And do you have pics with EXIF data available? Are your shutter speeds sufficiently high? Any examples of this "softness"?

See this comparison I did over 1.5 years ago http://www.pbase.com/lightrules/70300s

It shows how good the APO DG can be when properly stabilized or given fast shutter speeds. Is the 70-300 IS better? Yes. But mostly for its IS.
